Donkeys
We also use donkeys as coyote & bobcat deterrents in the pastures surrounding our other livestock. They are wonderful watchdogs, letting us know of any visitors--four or two-legged. We find that they are too rough to be placed in the same pasture as the goats and poultry, but they do a good job when pastured on the perimeters. They are also excellent in clearing brush; we rotate donkeys with horses to keep a pasture in great shape. The donkeys prefer to eat the brush and leave most of the grass/clover for the horses. They also have wonderful personalities and make great pets. We do not breed our donkeys; our males are gelded.
